BREAK FREE
Everyone has tough days… But when you’re living in your tough day, you think your ‘tough day’ is THE toughest day. It takes a change of perspective to bring you right back to true north and it makes you realise that your toughest day isn’t even the tip of the ice burg for others.
Perspective. It’s all about perspective. I needed a bit of perspective on that Monday morning. If I’m being honest, I was feeling quite sorry for myself; We had just landed back from America just a short few days before, and I was still feeling the affects of the jet-lag, and just the mere thought of ‘hard labour’ in the hot sun on barely any sleep was not particularly thrilling. Looking back at the Break Free trip now, it was the perfect come back.
It was two difficult days of painting, hunched-over backs, paint burns, and sunburns… and did I mention painting? Because there was A LOT of painting. It was the perfect two days of integration and bridging whatever gap might have formed in previous three weeks. There is no better way to become a tight team again than to serve together.
This trip also unlocked a large flow of gratitude in me. I am so grateful for the place that I am in now. There is so much darkness and evil in the world that the enemy is trying to throw at people and bombard them with; and these are people who don’t know how to come against those things, so they yield to it. I am grateful for my rehabilitation from the things of this world that have grown in me and become prominent weeds in my life that are now being uprooted. Break Free was an uncomfortable, vitally important, growth experience for me.
Let’s do it again!
